George Santos of New York and that the panel \u201cwill announce its next course of action in this matter on or before November 17, 2023.\u201d\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloeuffd9000a3b6iv7qm1jbb@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      The committee said in a statement that it had \u201ccontacted approximately 40 witnesses, reviewed more than 170,000 pages of documents, and authorized 37 subpoenas\u201d over the course of their investigation.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloeupciz000q3b6i5716w3mi@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Santos is facing a vote to expel him from the House as soon as Wednesday after fellow members of the New York delegation filed a privileged resolution last week. The measure would require a two-thirds majority of the chamber to succeed.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloeuffda000b3b6i5ikdlbrs@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Santos faces 23 charges including wire fraud and identity theft. Santos has pleaded not guilty to those charges.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloeuikcw000h3b6icg2ke09e@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Last week, US District Judge Joanna Seybert set a trial date for Santos of September 9, 2024.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cloeunudu000n3b6ipqhtqhfm@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Santos\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mrsantosny\/status\/1719089120633393305?s=21\" target=\"_blank\">wrote on X on Monday<\/a>, \u201cI will not beg for my constitutional rights.
