DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, US Customs and Border Protection, CBP\u2019s acting commissioner Troy Miller, US Border Patrol, USBP\u2019s Chief Jason Owens and USBP Del Rio Sector acting chief patrol agent Juan Bernal.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clod4yrpo000e3b5wldxn18mf@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      CNN has reached out to the defendants for comment.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clod5019a000g3b5wm7kz6ye8@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued the Biden administration last Tuesday, alleging that federal agents were destroying state property by cutting concertina wire in the Eagle Pass, Texas,\u00a0area with the intention of allowing migrants into the US.\u00a0On\u00a0Friday, Paxton notified the court that the federal government was using machinery, like a forklift, to dismantle the border barrier installed by\u00a0Texas and asked the court to temporarily force the federal government to stop.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clod519dx000i3b5w2yl9qxli@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      \u201cTexas seeks a temporary restraining order for the purpose \u2018of preserving the status quo and preventing [the] irreparable harm\u2019 that will occur if Defendants are allowed to continue cutting, destroying, or otherwise damaging Plaintiff\u2019s concertina wire fence,\u201d Texas wrote in the court filing\u00a0last week.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clod51a8y000k3b5wp89jy0dd@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Last week, a DHS spokesperson said they could not comment on pending litigation, but \u201cgenerally speaking,\u201d they said, \u201cBorder Patrol agents have a responsibility under federal law to take those who have crossed onto U.S. soil without authorization into custody for processing, as well as to act when there are conditions that put our workforce or migrants at risk.\u201d\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clod51a8y000l3b5wfu6azgse@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      A preliminary injunction hearing is scheduled for November 7 and the temporary restraining order expires on November 13, unless extended by the court,\u00a0according to\u00a0the judge\u2019s order.\n  <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Read the full article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/10\/30\/politics\/texas-biden-wire-mexico-border-federal-order\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A federal judge on Monday granted Texas\u2019 motion to temporarily stop the Biden administration from removing the razor wire at the US-Mexico border, pending a preliminary injunction hearing.
