{"id":11947,"date":"2025-01-14T01:46:50","date_gmt":"2025-01-14T01:46:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/connectwithfund.com\/?p=11947"},"modified":"2025-01-14T01:46:51","modified_gmt":"2025-01-14T01:46:51","slug":"bidens-latest-round-of-student-loan-handouts-brings-admin-total-to-more-than-5-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/connectwithfund.com\/?p=11947","title":{"rendered":"Biden&#8217;s latest round of student loan handouts brings admin total to more than 5 million"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><!----> <!----> <\/p>\n<div class=\"featured featured-video video-ct\">\n<div class=\"contain\">\n<div class=\"info\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>President Biden announced the approval of student loan handouts for more than 150,000 people on Monday, with the White House touting a total of more than 5 million beneficiaries over the course of the president&#8217;s term.<\/p>\n<p>With just one week left in office, Biden said his administration &#8220;has taken historic action to reduce the burden of student debt, hold bad actors accountable, and fight on behalf of students across the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These 150,000 borrowers include: almost 85,000 borrowers who attended schools that cheated and defrauded their students, 61,000 borrowers with total and permanent disabilities, and 6,100 public service workers,&#8221; Biden said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Biden boasted that his administration has also provided a record-high boost to the maximum amount for Pell Grants in the past 10 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BIDEN ADMINISTRATION REVERSES COURSE, REOPENS INCOME-BASED STUDENT LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAMS<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"inline image-ct\">\n<div class=\"m\"><picture><source media=\"(max-width: 767px)\" ><source media=\"(min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 1023px)\" ><source media=\"(min-width: 1024px) and (max-width: 1279px)\" ><source media=\"(min-width: 1280px)\" ><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/picture><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;I promised to ensure higher-education is a ticket to the middle class, not a barrier to opportunity, and I\u2019m proud to say we have forgiven more student loan debt than any other administration in history,&#8221; Biden said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Education noted that the latest move brings the total amount of the administration&#8217;s handouts to $183.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, two student loan repayment plans were reopened for enrollment by the Department of Education (DOE) following a federal court injunction against the <u>Biden administration&#8217;s<\/u> Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) program. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>SUPREME COURT RULES AGAINST BIDEN STUDENT LOAN DEBT HANDOUT<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"inline image-ct\">\n<div class=\"m\"><picture><source media=\"(max-width: 767px)\" ><source media=\"(min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 1023px)\" ><source media=\"(min-width: 1024px) and (max-width: 1279px)\" ><source media=\"(min-width: 1280px)\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/connectwithfund.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Biden-student-debt.jpg\" alt=\"President Biden To Promote Student Loan 'Plan B' In Wisconsin College Town\"><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/picture><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>New enrollment in the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and Income-Contingent Repayment (ICR) programs was halted last summer in an attempt to phase them out and encourage borrowers to sign up for the Biden-Harris administration\u2019s SAVE plan, but now people can sign up once again.<\/p>\n<p>The two reinstated plans offer credit for Public Service Loan Forgiveness and income-driven repayment.
