Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley is generating buzz after picking up support in a new poll focused on the key state of New Hampshire, although former President Donald Trump still has a sizable edge.<\/p>\n

Haley, a former South Carolina governor who also served as ambassador to the United Nations under Trump, has scored 29% support in a CBS News\/YouGov poll released Sunday, versus Trump\u2019s tally of 44%.<\/p>\n

The survey\u2019s findings have sparked talk about how Haley might move even closer to Trump\u2019s level of support if other GOP candidates were to drop out of the race. \u201cGut check time for Christie,\u201d said Liam Donovan, a former GOP operative who is now a principal at law and lobbying firm Bracewell, in a social-media post. Donovan was referring to former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who drew 10% support in the poll.<\/p>\n

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis got 11% in the poll, followed by entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at 5% and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson at 1%.<\/p>\n

New Hampshire\u2019s Republican presidential primary is scheduled for Jan. 23, just eight days after Iowa\u2019s first-in-the-nation caucuses.<\/p>\n
