\n Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said, if elected president, he would \u201creplace and supersede\u201d the Affordable Care Act with \u201ca better plan,\u201d saying that \u201cObamacare has not worked.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cYou will have a totally different health care plan,\u201d the Republican presidential candidate said on NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press\u201d on Sunday, later adding, \u201cThis will be replacing Obamacare.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n DeSantis said details of the plan will likely be worked out in the spring and that his campaign would \u201croll out a big proposal.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The comments come as former President Donald Trump, the front-runner in the GOP presidential race, has renewed his call to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, a move that has troubled some Republicans, given his failure to do so in his first term.\n <\/p>\n

\n At a stop in Sioux City, Iowa, on Saturday, DeSantis dismissed Trump\u2019s renewed focus on repealing Obamacare.\u00a0\u201cDidn\u2019t he promise to do that back in 2016? I don\u2019t think he got that one done,\u201d the Florida governor said.\n <\/p>\n

\n Some Trump advisers who spoke with CNN conceded that calling for the termination of a law that provides\u00a0health care coverage to millions of Americans and is largely viewed\u00a0favorably by the public is a political loser going into 2024.\u00a0Republicans have tried and failed for years to implement substantial changes to Obamacare, and the party has largely abandoned\u00a0efforts to campaign on the issue.\n <\/p>\n

\n The resurrection of the health care battle has given Democrats\u00a0fresh political ammo, and the\u00a0Biden campaign quickly seized\u00a0on Trump\u2019s threats. The campaign held a press call with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and North Carolina Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper, whose state last week became the 40th to expand Medicaid, to respond to Trump\u2019s comments. The campaign also released an ad focused on health care and prescription drug costs, attempting\u00a0to draw a sharp contrast with Trump.\n <\/p>\n

\n DeSantis\u2019 comments to \u201cMeet the Press\u201d come after he said Friday that he would \u201ctranscend Obamacare.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cThat was a big failure, obviously, under the Trump administration. That was a core promise that didn\u2019t happen. \u2026 We\u2019re gonna have a comprehensive plan to lower costs, and yes, Obamacare hasn\u2019t done it, so we\u2019ll transcend Obamacare,\u201d DeSantis told Fox Carolina.\n <\/p>\n

\n DeSantis also weighed in on the impeachment investigation into President Joe Biden. On Saturday, House Speaker Mike Johnson said he believes he has the votes to\u00a0launch a formal impeachment inquiry\u00a0into Biden. While DeSantis said an inquiry would be \u201cjustifiable,\u201d he cautioned Republicans to not lose sight of what he said matters to Americans, such as border security, the economy and reining in federal agencies.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI think they run the risk of doing an inquiry that doesn\u2019t necessarily lead anywhere, while they\u2019ve been ignoring a lot of the problems that are voters are talking about,\u201d DeSantis said.\n <\/p>\n

\n DeSantis firmly committed to staying in the 2024 race through the Iowa caucuses on January 15 but acknowledged beyond Iowa, his campaign has \u201ca lot of work\u201d to do.\n <\/p>\n

\n Asked whether he would dropout if he doesn\u2019t come in second, DeSantis projected confidence.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cWe\u2019re gonna win the caucus,\u201d DeSantis said.\n <\/p>\n
